The commercial front-end (which gives you head-to-head and offline mission capabilities) is no longer available for purchase. All the suppliers have run out. In fact, it has been gone so long that it is now obsolete. The free download of version 1.20 has the same capabilities.
Air Warrior is constantly being updated. Here's a preview of what's coming in SVGA AW II. The AW II commercial version is expected to be released late '96 by Interactive Magic.
The following front-end (FE) kits are all you need to join the hordes playing Air Warrior online (well, that and money).
Air Warrior is currently in a state of transition from 1.xx based front ends to 2.xx based front ends. Normally, the freely available front end lacks some features such as h2h play and offline dogfighting. However, the commercial version was sold out so they made it (actually a slightly later revision) available as the freely available version. Therefore the version 1.20 based front ends listed below have h2h and offline dogfight (drones). The latest version 2.xx front ends are currently Windows 3.1 and Win95 based and do NOT have h2h or offline dogfighting. Which front end you need will depend on your desire to fly offline and whether or not you want to fly on the new major service providers (e.g. CIS, AOL) since they are version 2.xx host based.
Depending upon your machine type, you may need specific file uncompressors. Instructions on configuration should be inside of each kit.
Each host runs its own version of the software, but most hosts run the same version. See the FTP Site for all kept version 1.xx releases. See the Kesmai download page for the version 2.xx windows based releases.

Here are the latest patches for the commerical versions of Air Warrior. Warning, only the patches with the word "production" are blessed by Kesmai. You use the beta patches at your own risk. The FAQ has instructions for update previous versions of Air Warrior to the most current production and beta releases. You have been warned.
Currently, the only commerical version of Air Warrior available is for MS-DOS computers. Kesmai has announced plans for a commercial version of Air Warrior for the Macintosh. When the Macintosh version is released, patches for the Mac FE will also be available here.
NOTE: These patches are for the commercial version. The latest version is 1.20 which has superceded the commercial version. A new commercial version will be released later.
Some experienced Air Warrior players have enhanced various portions of the game by adding additional art work, new dashboards, and film viewing tools.
