CACTUS Meeting Schedule and Map

CACTUS meets on the third Thursday of each month at The University of Texas' Applied Research Labs (UT:ARL) in the JJ Jake Pickle Research Campus (JJ PRC) in Austin, Texas. We'll meet in the main auditorium located directly behind the guard's desk and main lobby. The program starts at 7:00pm with refreshments served at 6:30pm.

Current Meeting Schedule

Date Program
21 Sep 2000 Bruce Bramhall will present the latest product from The Kernel Group (TKG): Bare Metal Restore(TM). This software allows a machine to be restored from scratch (no installed OS) to its state at the time of the last incremental backup to the Tivoli Storage Manager (formerly ADSM) in a very short time, eliminating the time-consuming prerequisite stages of OS installation and configuration. The restore takes care of disk drive partitioning and lays down the filesystems as they were before. BMR (TM) is curently supported on AIX, Solaris, and HP, with NT likely to be available soon. TKG is a private Austin-based company that has been around since 1990
